When I walk through a bookstore, I see the hundreds and hundreds (or thousands!) of different books by different authors, most of which are not highly known and not likely to be a bestseller either.

I always wonder, how the heck do these bookstores and publishers (and authors!) make any money off of most of the books?

I would think that printing all these books that won’t sell many copies would cost more than they actually get in return?

Or do the small number of books that end up being bestsellers make up the difference? Thanks.

I am in search of a Publisher. A friend of mine in Jamaica has completed a book outlining the history of the Rastafarian movement (Complete with illustrations) and he is in search of a publisher. I have seen his work and it is a massive, complete history of the movement. Any publishing house out there in need of a great book?

I want to make a new comic book ( not exactly your typical super heroe in modern city one though ) more like a random epic adventure in a different world.

My grandfather has recently written a biographical book on the surprisingly exciting life of a Catholic priest. He’s looking to find a publisher for this book, which, he jokingly says, “will revitalize the priesthood”.

However, he’s wary of publishers such as PublishAmerica and other vanity presses and print-on-demand pbulishers. What publishers should he send his book to and which publishers does he stand the best chance of getting his book published?

My friend has cracked versions of ebooks (the books that you usually buy but can also download from internet for free from few sites). He wants to have their print outs. He is planning to take them as reference when he will visit Australia. I want to know whether it is safe for him to have them with him?

Are there chances that the airport authority will check his bags to know what is in there even if they are a few pages?

Will he get punished if they come to know of those print outs?

If any of you know, how do you think I might find publishers willing to publish the work of an eighth-grader? Any sort of help is much appreciated!

I have never written a book, but I have a relly great manuscript. I want to submit it to a publisher, but every publisher I’ve checked doesn’t work with unknowns. I don’t want to self- publish, any one know of any that might give me a shot?

I’m having trouble finding publishers, magazines, contests, etc., to send my short stories and vignettes to, especially since I don’t really want to sell my work for very little or nothing. Are there any good places I can send them to?
Also, do publishers ever buy short vignettes? If so, where can I send them?
