What are the rules or regulations on the use of images on the web and in ebooks?
Recently, I was publishing an ebook, for use on the web and for distribution on DVD and my co-editor suggested I use, for illustration, some images from the movie “Queen of the Damned.” I heard somewhere that images can be used only if one, you know they are royalty free or two you have permission from the photographer. If one did a google images search and found some images, say images from this or that movie, can one use those images? Is it a different issue if the images are used on an ebook that might be distributed, maybe even sold (though for only very small money)? Can someone help me figure out what can be used and what the rules or guidelines are?

How do I get someone to read my e-book and give me honest feedback without payment?
I just finished my e-book entitled “Improve Your Life”. It is about 70 pages, but they’re small pages. I’m looking for someone to read it and tell me what they honestly think of it. I don’t have any money to pay someone to do this but I would be willing to do the same for them. I’ve already tried writer’s circles and craigslist. Any ideas? Anybody want to take a look at it?

What is a normal percentage of money that authors get from the publisher for selling there book?
I am writing a book and the publisher that im serious about (Tate Publishing) says that I will get 40% of the profit from selling it. (They will get 70%) Is that a good deal? Do you know of another publisher that’s good? Is Tate Publishing a good publisher? THANKS!

Can I get the names of some book publishers that I do not need to pay to get my book published?
I’m a student, so I have very little money to spend on a vanity publisher. I’ve been looking for a publisher for weeks, but any good publishers that I find need several hundred dollars to get the book on the shelves. Several hundred dollars that I don’t have.
I already tried PublishAmerica, and they rejected me. Can anyone help me?

How do bookstores and book publishers actually make money?
When I walk through a bookstore, I see the hundreds and hundreds (or thousands!) of different books by different authors, most of which are not highly known and not likely to be a bestseller either.
I always wonder, how the heck do these bookstores and publishers (and authors!) make any money off of most of the books?
I would think that printing all these books that won’t sell many copies would cost more than they actually get in return?
Or do the small number of books that end up being bestsellers make up the difference? Thanks.

How do they do it since it costs like 15 cents to list something but they sell the ebooks for a penny.

Do e-books actually make money? Can they be better than being published professionally?
I’m writing a test prep study guide, am about halfway done, but am unsure as to how to proceed with the publishing.
Can anyone recommend any reputable publishers for genres in fiction/adventure?
I’m a young writer, mainly writing fiction, adventure, some science fiction, and I would like to know which publishers to give some consideration to. I don’t have a lot of money to burn, though, so nothing too expensive. Or could you tell me if there are any I should avoid? Thanks for your time.
